McGrath on right track for Blues joy

GREG McGRATH, a student from Bridgetown VEC, started playing rugby with the under-11 team in Wexford Wanderers RFC before continuing his career in Bridgetown.

He then made the South East development squad and was picked for the Leinster Youths squad for summer training in Terenure College Dublin.

Going through the normal trials and practice games, Greg made the narrowed down panel of 30 to represent Leinster Youths and he acquitted himself well and made the final squad of 23.

Things got better as he won his first cap for Leinster against Munster at Donnybrook and then against Ulster at Ravenhill, the home of Ulster rugby. The picture shows Greg with the Interprovincial cup, which Leinster won in the Sportsground in Galway (Connacht's home ground) on Saturday, October 12.

Greg follows in the footsteps of Ciarán Sutherland and John Turner, who also played for Leinster Youths as prop forwards while attending college in Bridgetown VEC. Greg is eligible to play for Leinster Youths next season. We wish him the best of luck in his future career.
