Leinster want Thorn in side

WORLD CUP winner Brad Thorn is being lined up to join Leinster on a short-term contract.

Rugby league convert Thorn, who turns 37 next Friday, has played 59 times for the All Blacks and is known as a hard-nosed lock .

Thorn is under contract to a Japanese club. Their season ends next week and he would be available until the end of the season.

Leinster chief executive Mick Dawson has refused to be drawn into speculation about the move.

"We have no comment to make on that. We have signed no one and we don't discuss anyone until a deal has crossed the line," he said.

Leinster would have up to March 22 to register Thorn for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals.

Captain Leo Cullen is recovering from an Achilles operation in Sweden while South African Steven Sykes returned home this week to conclude an unhappy time at the club.
