It is understood Leinster head coach Leo Cullen and senior coach Stuart Lancaster have agreed terms on new contracts for at least the next two years.

The signature of the former European Cup-winning captain Cullen was considered just a matter of time, given his progress in learning alongside the experienced Englishman.

The retention of Lancaster will come as a relief in the week of the Champions Cup quarter-final at home to Wasps.

The ex-England coach has been linked with a host of openings, especially in The Premiership, as Leinster have returned to their attacking roots.

At various points along the way, he has been rumoured to be on his way to Bristol for Andy Robinson, Leicester for Richard Cockerill, Worcester Warriors for Dean Ryan, even Connacht for Pat Lam.

In fairness, Lancaster has stated all along how he has been open to extending his time at Leinster, where he has been able to get back to coaching without the circus that went along with the honour of leading his country.
