RUGBY: Australia centre Tevita Kuridrani has received a five-week suspension for a dangerous tackle on Ireland's Peter O'Mahony in Australia's 32-15 victory last Saturday in Dublin.
Kuridrani received a straight red card for the tackle in the 72nd minute and appeared at an International Rugby Board disciplinary hearing yesterday.
The suspension rules Kuridrani out of Australia's final two games on their end of season tour against Scotland and Wales.
SLOW-MO REPLAYS OUT
GOLF: Governing bodies will continue to use TV evidence in deciding upon rules violations, but will limit the role of the kind of "enhanced technological evidence" that saw Tiger Woods penalised earlier this year.
The R&A and USGA revealed several changes to the Decisions on the Rules of Golf yesterday, the most significant being the use of video technology to determine whether a ball at rest has moved.
New Decision 18/4 states that "the ball will not be deemed to have moved if that movement was not reasonably discernible to the naked eye at the time."
TAYLOR SPARS WITH BARNES
BOXING: Katie Taylor will spar with fellow Olympian Paddy Barnes in Bray on Saturday ahead of her battle with a former US marine at the Mansion House in Dublin.
Taylor is due to meet Melissa Parker on November 29 before she renews acquaintances with Finnish lightweight Mire Potkonen in Ballywaltrim 24 hours later.
The Bray card is sold out, but there are some tickets left for the Mansion House clash.
NO ENGLISH IN HEINEKEN
RUGBY: Hopes of a resolution in the row over the future of European club competition in time for next season look over, with the protagonists seemingly resigned to rival tournaments.
Representatives from the French, Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Italian unions are understood to be meeting in Dublin tomorrow to discuss plans to forge ahead with revised versions of the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup next season without English clubs.
