Kilkenny call out to girls

LAST week saw students from Kilkenny College lift the famous Heineken Cup. Students received flags and hats for answering questions about Leinster correctly and all got a chance to take photos with the trophy.

The college has a strong history of schoolboy rugby, but underage girls' rugby is also a dominant presence.

Jennie Bagnall, Leinster Rugby women's development officer, recently held a session with all the girls in the fourth year.

With more than 60 girls playing full contact rugby in the college, it is hoped that sessions like these, as promoted by Kilkenny CCRO Barry Daly, will encourage girls to continue playing the sport by taking up club rugby.

Any girls or boys wishing to play rugby in Kilkenny RFC can contact Barry on 087-7530737.
