Kids blitz festival fun

MULLINGAR were joined by Edenderry, Longford, Navan, Portlaoise, Tullamore and Virginia in Cullion for the first Festival of Rugby this season at Under-8, 9 and 10 levels.

The boys looked hungry for action and were able to easily avoid the temptation of off-pitch entertainment in the shape of zorbing balls.

Mullingar Under-10s played a total of six matches with two teams. The boys took on Navan, Edenderry, Tullamore and Virginia.

You wouldn't think it was their first blitz of the season as the boys kept their line and defended well.

In attack, quick hands kept the ball out of opposition reach and when they did run into contact the ruck was set-up and the ball passed back to waiting hands. Tries were scored by Mullingar's Sam, Cormac, Daniel, Daragh, Caoimhin, Shane and David.

Two big squads were entered at Under-9 level against Tullamore, Portlaoise, Longford and Virginia.

All of the players put in brilliant performances and will have to be watched as they develop some new-found skills.
