YOU'VE roared him on throughout his illustrious career in the blue of Leinster, but now's your chance to be one of Leinster legend Malcolm O'Kelly's teammates!
Mal will be leading a team of eager participants for the adventure of a lifetime in the highest capital in the world, Addis Ababa, in the Great Ethiopian Run – A Run Less Ordinary, on November 24 in aid of the children's development NGO, Plan Ireland.
This 10k race is the biggest and noisiest in Africa and is open to all levels of fitness, including walkers.
More than 36,000 participants will line up for the race in historic Addis Ababa, including 500 elite athletes and 500 runners from overseas. Staged 10,000ft above sea level, the race winds its way through the ancient city, which is steeped in culture and tradition.
Malcolm says: "I faced many challenges throughout my career and during my 186 Leinster appearances, but there's no way I could have done it without the amazing Leinster supporters backing me.
"Now, here's a chance for you to line up with and be part of my team for this innovative and exciting event."
Make your footprint matter:
This race is unique – it is one of the few challenges actually held in a developing country where Plan Ireland work. Unlike other challenges, you will also get to visit some of the charity's projects in Ethiopia and see how you're helping to develop a brighter future for children. Ethiopia is an incredible country and this event will give you the chance to experience some of its highlights firsthand. This exhilarating challenge incorporates a trip to a Plan project in the town of Lalibela, a UN World Heritage Site.
Simply submit your application and deposit of €300 and prepare yourself for the trip of a lifetime. Be quick as places are filling up fast! See www.plan.ie/greatethiopianrun for more details.
