Irish confirm Best will play

WORLD Cup round-up: Rory Best has been included in the Ireland team submitted for Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against Wales.

All line-ups must be finalised 48 hours before kick-off.

Best's inclusion indicates he has a chance of completing his recovery from his shoulder injury in time to face Wales.

The Ulster hooker sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder during Sunday's 36-6 victory over Italy and has been receiving intensive treatment since.

Wilko praises Flood link-up

Toby Flood's selection at centre to improve England's playmaking options in the World Cup quarter-final against France on Saturday has been lauded by starting fly-half Jonny Wilkinson for adding versatility.

Flood's promotion for the injured Mike Tindall was one of four England changes made for the match at Eden Park.

"You have two guys on the same wavelength, that focus on the same things. We have both played at 10 and 12 and we will have to adapt to situations as they happen," Wilkinson said.

Bleus fired up

Vincent Clerc today called for France to show their worth in Saturday's Rugby World Cup quarter-final clash with England.

Clerc, who scored the late try which earned a losing bonus point in last weekend's 19-14 defeat by Tonga, is determined France make amends for their eliminations by England in the 2003 and 2007 World Cups.

He said: "We have a great deal of revenge to get. What we showed last week doesn't reflect what we are worth."

Boks urged on

With his campaign wrecked by injury and facing the end of his international rugby career, veteran lock Bakkies Botha delivered a somber message to his Springboks team-mates ahead of their Rugby World Cup quarter-final against Australia.

Botha rallied his team-mates with a reminder: You never know which test may be your last.

McCaw to start

New Zealand captain Richie McCaw will carry a painful foot injury into the Rugby World Cup quarter-final against Argentina on Sunday, but winger Zac Guildford has been ruled out after injuring his hamstring.
