Groin injury rules Earls out of Racing clash

IRELAND'S versatile international back Keith Earls will not play for Munster against Racing Metro in the Heineken Cup.

THE man who has been earmarked as the natural successor to Brian O'Driscoll at outside centre received bad news from a specialist yesterday.

The 25-year-old will miss two European games with a groin injury - away to the French club and at home to Edinburgh on Sunday week.

In addition, Munster coach Rob Penney has had his front row resources depleted by a knee injury to Springbok loose-head Wian du Preez, who was due to find out from a specialist today how long he will be out.

Former Leinster Academy full-back Felix Jones, 25, will make his latest return from injury this weekend. The three-cap Ireland international will have to dislodge Denis Hurley from the Munster number fifteen jersey.
