Foley looks to Hanrahan

Clermont-Auvergne v Munster, Stade Marcel Michelin, Tomorrow (KO3.15) - Sky Sports 2.

Anthony Foley is going out to France to give it a go.

That is the conclusion of his choice of JJ Hanrahan at inside centre in between Ian Keatley and the returning Andrew Smith.

This could come to benefit former Leinster flyer Andrew Conway as the increase in footballing skills of Hanrahan could open up the outside channels.

The problem for Munster is how to deal with the juggernaut Clermont forward eight that had them on toast at Thomond.

This is almost unfairly hampered by the double blow of losing loose-heads Dave Kilcoyne and James Cronin.

This means third-choice John Ryan will make his first start in The Champions Cup in the cauldron that is Marcel Michelin. What a baptism!

The difference in resources is captured by the fact Clermont can leave out Napolioni Nalaga and bring in Zac Guildford in his place.

Clermont: N Abendanon; N Nakaitaci, A Rougerie, W Fofana, Z Guildford; C Lopez, M Parra; T Domingo, B Kayser, D Zirakashvili, J Cudmore, S Vahaamahina, D Chouly (capt), A Lapandry, F Lee.

Munster: F Jones; A Conway, A Smith, JJ Hanrahan, S Zebo; I Keatley, C Murray; J Ryan, D Casey, BJ Botha, P O'Connell, D Foley, P O'Mahony (capt), T O'Donnell, CJ Stander.

Verdict: Clermont.
