A WET and windy afternoon on the back pitch of the Cross and Passion School was the setting for an historic first rugby training session.

Cross and Passion Under 16s took their first step towards building a rugby culture in the school.

On a wet and mucky afternoon, the boys were put through their paces, under the watchful eye of Conor Dempsey (teacher), Graham Barry (Newbridge RFC) and Ben Swindlehurst (CCRO).

With children coming from various sporting backgrounds, the session included basic skill sets mixed with continuity games. The session was very positive with a spread of natural talent on show.

With coaches in place and keen player interest, the future is bright for rugby in Cross and Passion. Friendly matches have been lined up in the near future, with the lads keen to get off the training pitch and into full match format.

Thank you to Cross and Passion for its ongoing support.
