Edenderry hail George

SUNDAY, September 23 saw the inaugural presentation of the George Kelly Memorial Trophy and it was a very special day for Edenderry RFC.

The trophy was presented by the IRFU Senior Vice President Pat Fitzgerald and among the guests of George's family was Ronnie McDowell, President of the Munster Association of Referees, who was a good friend of George's. For people who may not have known George, no greater gentleman ever stood in Edenderry RFC.

He was involved in the building of the Edenderry RFC clubhouse and in maintaining it for many years.

George was the Midland League representative for the club for many years and it is fitting that the George Kelly Memorial Trophy which has been donated by George's family, is to be presented to winners of a Midland League competition.
