Doak to alter trend at BT

BENETTON TREVISO v ULSTER, Stadio Monigo, Tomorrow (KO 2.0, Irish time, BBCNI)

JOE SCHMIDT will exhale a sigh of relief that Jared Payne finally makes his comeback from a foot injury, albeit off the bench, in the Italian outreach of Treviso.

Tommy Bowe has mended from a dead leg to take his customary place on the right wing.

Ulster coach Neil Doak makes two changes to the side soundly beaten by Leinster, bringing back Louis Ludik to full-back and Alan O'Connor to the second row.

It is the latter choice which brings with it the greatest cause for concern as lineout leader Franco van der Merwe misses his first game this season with a chest infection.

This one starts and ends with the forward pack. The old soldier Rory Best will have to take the lead role in setting the platform, arrowing onto the scrum and finding his jumpers with Robbie Diack in line for a central part out of touch.

After that, it will fall on Ruan Pienaar and Paddy Jackson to keep Treviso penned in and the scoreboard ticking over.

Treviso: J Hayward; A Esposito, M Campagnaro, L Morisi, A Pratichetti; S Christie, E Gori; M Zanusso, D Giazzon, R Harden, T Vallejos, C van Zyl, M Barbini, A Zanni (capt), D Budd.

Ulster: L Ludik; T Bowe, D Cave, S Olding, C Gilroy; P Jackson, R Pienaar; C Black, R Best, W Herbst, A O'Connor, D Tuohy, R Diack, C Ross, R Wilson.

VERDICT: Ulster
