It was a great day for St David's Artane on Monday last as, after weeks of practicing, they had the opportunity to play in the Junior Development Shield.
Teachers at the school, Mick Nally and Joe Costello, first brought the idea of rugby to the school two years ago.
"When we saw the interest was growing we decided to jump on it and organise a rugby tour to South Africa last summer," Costello said. "On our return the interest in rugby soared and you can see that today."
Leinster Rugby CRO Jack Hanratty was involved last year in some of the first training sessions in the school. He said: "When I first arrived there were a few senior students training but it was great to see eager students and eager teachers about the sport.
"Coming back and seeing that they are able to field a junior team is fantastic."
