D'Arcy on verge of new deal

IRELAND centre Gordon D'Arcy is on the verge of extending his contract up to the 2015 World Cup, writes Des Berry.

"If it isn't signed, it is agreed. He was in and out (to the IRFU) during the Six Nations. He will be around next year," revealed Leinster coach Matt O'Connor.

The 34-year-old inside centre has had to watch as the international departure of Brian O'Driscoll has unfolded and he has taken the decision that there is still more for him to do.

"Darce has been rejuvenated a little bit. I don't know if it is beard-related," deadpanned O'Connor.

"He certainly is playing like a bloke significantly younger. He is playing some fantastic rugby for us and for Ireland."
