LEINSTER captain Leo Cullen has declared Luke Fitzgerald 'priceless' as haggling over the young star's salary starts to get ugly.
Cullen told the Herald that Luke Fitzgerald was one of the most versatile players in the country, coming into the prime of his career.
The IRFU want to slash the winger's salary by 30 per cent, a move that has sent shockwaves through the Leinster squad.
In an exclusive interview with the Herald, Leo Cullen said today: "Luke is invaluable as a Leinster player and as an Ireland player.
"He is one of the most important players in the squad for his versatility."
"You see someone like Isa (Nacewa), who can play in a lot of roles. Lukie is even more versatile."
The IRFU's tight-fisted strategy with the 24-year-old star has put a cloud over the future of Fitzgerald and Leinster.
Sources close to the Fitzgerald camp say he could walk away if a better deal is offered from overseas.
