Coolmine U12s face biggest test yet on tour of Wales

Coolmine's U12 squad have recently returned from a very successful weekend tour to Cardiff. An early Friday morning start had everyone on the 8:30am ferry to Wales and the group arrived in the Welsh capital shortly before 3pm. But there was no rest for anyone as they had a four o'clock appointment for a tour of the Millennium Stadium.

Saturday was another early start for everyone -- a trip over the border to Keynsham Rugby Club in England for four blitz-style matches. Three out of four wins for the visitors kept the lads in good spirits ready for a journey to Rodney Parade for the Dragons v Munster clash, and they even met the two teams afterwards.

A 10:30am kick off against Welsh side Penarth RFC on Sunday gave nobody a chance for a lie in. Coolmine played Penarth in a 15-a-side game on a full pitch and this was the squad's first full-sized game as they normally play 10-a-side on a half pitch. The Penarth team were older and bigger than Coolmine and despite taking an early 7-0 lead, Coolmine were unable to match the greater strength of the Penarth boys who ran out comfortable winners.

The Coolmine boys tackled their hearts out and all touring players participated in the game. After lunch it was time to head back to Holyhead for the journey home. Thanks to everyone involved.
