Clubs can kill off counties

Former Munster scrum-half Gerry Hurley has been handed the captaincy of the Ireland Clubs in Cork this evening, writes Des Berry.

There are eight representatives from Leinster clubs, headed by the Clontarf quartet of lock Ben Reilly, number eight Frank Cogan, centre Killian Lett and wing Tim McCoy.

Lansdowne fly-half Craig Ronaldson, UCD flanker Danny Kenny and the St Mary's duo of prop Colm McMahon and wing Darragh Fanning complete the set.

There are 12 Ulster Bank League clubs represented from the top two divisions in the 22-man squad, numbered among them are impact half-backs Barry Keeshan and Sam Cronin.
