COLAISTE Chill Mhaintáin had too much power and pace for De La Salle, Dundalk, proving good value for their 23-0 victory in the Leinster Schools Development Senior Cup quarter-final at Dundalk RFC yesterday, writes Des BERRY.
Leinster Youths hooker Jack McKenna, cannily placed at openside flanker, and second row Andrew Doyle did a lot of damage at the breakdown, getting their hands to the ball. The main beneficiaries were centres Matthew Cullen and KK Beattie, who both pierced the losers' defence through the middle, kicker Ronan Doyle adding eight points for an 18-point lead at the interval.
Wicklow number eight Eoin O'Sullivan rubbed salt into the wound by using his physique to crash over for the third try in the 63rd minute. The Wicklow Town school will progress to a semi-final date with CBS Wexford, 43-10 winners over Coláiste Bhríde at Gorey RFC.
