Cheika tipped for Bath role

FORMER Leinster boss Michael Cheika is among the early favourites to become the new head coach of English Premiership side Bath.

Ex-Lions boss Ian McGeechan announced yesterday that he would be leaving his role as director of rugby at the Rec at the end of this season.

Cheika, who led Leinster to their first Heineken Cup success in 2009, is believed to be among the list of potential replacements along with former Italian coach Nick Mallett, who recently lost out on becoming the new head coach for England.

The Australian is currently at Paris-based Stade Francais in the French Top 14 league.
