Branagan finds a way to make it third time lucky

The boys from Scoil Conglais finally made it across the winning line in the Leinster Schools Development Junior Cup final at Donnybrook on Tuesday.

They have been after this on for some time.

"It is our third year here trying to do this," said Joe Dolan.

"We were beaten by Moyne two years ago and by a very strong Maynooth side last year. We have played ten matches this year and this is our ninth win."

They came up just short of Maynooth in the Duff Junior Cup last month in a competition one step higher and had to have their feet on the ground to repel a tremendous effort from Ardee. The lead changed hands on seven occasions as each school took it in turn to dominate without ever getting two-scores clear until Conglais second row Seán Branagan made all the difference with the match winning try in the 59th minute.

Scoil Conglais will now go forward to play the winners of St Patrick's Navan and CBS Naas in the Fr Godfrey Junior Cup in the New Year.
