Boks' return unlikely to deny Welsh points

The Scarlets v Ulster, Parc Y Scarlets, tomorrow 3.0

Coach Brian McLaughlin has been able to welcome home Ireland's Andrew Trimble, Tom Court and Paddy Wallace, South Africans Ruan Pienaar and Johann Muller and Scotland's Simon Danielli to improve Ulster's prospects in west Wales.

The most valuable of these is half-back Pienaar and he must be licking his lips at the chance to get back to do what he does best. In his absence, Ulster looked to develop the undoubted playmaking potential of Ireland U20 Paddy Jackson.

The influence of Pienaar's fellow Springbok Muller is also a necessary good as the forward pack has not functioned all that credibly without his presence, and the team are lodged one point above the Scarlets in eighth place on the ladder.

Verdict: The Scarlets
