Ardee show strong hand in biker poker

Ardee Rugby Club held its first biker poker run to raise some much-needed funds for the youth section of the club.

The bikers had to start at Ardee RFC and visit five of their closest neighbouring clubs in the North East including Dundalk, Boyne, Navan, Athboy, North Meath.

They selected a card at each rugby ground and return back to Ardee's grounds to a bowl of homemade soup and sandwiches provided by Ardee RFC's hard-working Susan Shackleton, Ann Malone and Zofia Szostakowski. They were also serving tea and coffee from the club's newest addition to match days – their 'shop on wheels'.

The biker with the best poker hand on the day was Richard McGuinness (brother of Paul McGuinness, one of Ardee's finest Captains).

Richard collected a fuel voucher and other prizes on the day went to Paddy Butterly, Coaster M.M.C. and David Martin.

All of the bikers agreed it was a great day and a success all round and are looking forward to next year's event, which they are planning to make bigger and better.

A big thank-you to all the riders on the day for your support, the members of the Coasters M.M.C. and Team Hardship for their help in organising this event.

Praise and thanks must go to Ardee's very own Dan Malone for organising and coordinating the event, as well as club photographer and prize sponsors Patrick Marrow, Danns and sons, Mario's take-away (Dominic Borza).
