ALEX FERGUSON is convinced in-form striker Wayne Rooney will smash records set by Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton and take over as Old Trafford’s top striker of all time.
Rooney stands in sixth place in the current United all-time list and has recently spoken about the possibility of overhauling Charlton’s remarkable 249 goal record.
“I’m obviously proud to be up there and be in touching distance of some legends of the club. Hopefully I can overtake them soon,” said Rooney.
With a running total of 175, Rooney is still some way behind Charlton on 249.
“Wayne has time to beat all types of records. He has every chance of beating Bobby's record,” said Ferguson.
