RACHEL RUDDY delivered another assured display in Birr. Dublin's diligent right corner-back keeps it simple.
She is a tight marker. She reads the game superbly and her distribution is always by swift post.
She salutes her defensive colleagues and also the presence of one of the top goalkeepers the sport has known, Cliodhna O'Connor.
"From our defensive point of view, it's been so far, so good. Our forwards have been wonderful this season. It's tough work trying to mark them in training! Having Cliodhna behind us also gives us such belief."
The injection of youth has added considerably to the blue blend. Rachel has seen the sport bloom and grow.
"The coverage on TG4 is very good. And that is what the game deserves.
The memories still tumble of the golden days at Ballyboden St Enda's, a magical adventure inspired by the great Bill Daly.
Boden won the lot - Dublin, Leinster and All-Irelands.
"We had wonderful times. It was a great run.
"We have a whole new squad there now. Once the players get that bit of experience, we can see those glory days again."
In the meantime in Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final, Rachel's commendable defensive style will endeavour to keep Galway at bay.
