Power primed to put Paris record straight

Sole Power will jump off the likely favourite for tomorrow's Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc day and connections are hopeful that he can win the race at the fourth time of asking, writes Niall Cronin.

Paddy Power, the son of owner Sabena Power, commented yesterday: "It's amazing to say this - the Abbaye - is the only Group One sprint in Europe that he hasn't won yet. It would be amazing for him to top off his year on this side of the world, it would be a dream come true for all of us."

Sole Power has been drawn in stall 11 and will again have the services of Richard Hughes in the saddle.

Power added: "We're going there, we're bullish. Please God the sun shines until race time on Sunday and let's hope Hughesie can weave his magic. We're hoping our luck hasn't run out - we want to keep it going for as long as possible. It was in this race in 2011 we learned he had that finishing kick."

Ireland are also represented in the race by the Evanna McCutheon trained Maaret who won the race last year.
