Pizarro stuns Lille

CLAUDIO PIZARRO scored a stunning first-half hat-trick for Bayern Munich in a remarkable 6-1 win Group F win over Lille in Germany.

Bastian Schweinsteiger had given Munich a fifth-minute lead when Pizarro scored the first of three goals in a 15-minute spell that had the Frenchmen reeling.

Another former Chelsea striker, Arjen Robben, added Bayern's third before two more goals in six minutes from the Pervian, put the Germans in an unassailable lead.

Salomon Kalou maintained the Chelsea connection when he replied within six minutes of the second half for Lille, but substitute Toni Kroos completed the rout in the 66th minute with Bayern's sixth goal.

Bayern are now top of the group even though Valencia beat BATE Borisov 4-2 at Mestalla, thanks to goals from Jonas and Roberto Soldado before Sofiane Feghouli added a third early in the second half.

The Belarusian side began to respond when Renan Bressan replied three minutes late but after Dmitri Mozolevski added a second for the visitors, Feghouli scored his second of the night for a 4-2 win.

Juventus put pressure on Chelsea in Group E when they moved into second place with an impressive 4-0 win over Nordsjaelland in Turin.

While Celtic were celebrating a famous win over Barcelona, Benfica were doing the Scots a favour by beating Spartak Moscow 2-0 in Lisbon thanks to two second-half goals from substitute Oscar Cardoza.

And in Romania, CFR Cluj lost 3-1 to Galatasaray in Manchester United's group H, thanks to a hat-trick from Burak Yilmaz.
