KATIE TAYLOR eased to within three bouts of retaining her European Union lightweight title with an 8-0 verdict over Spanish lightweight Jennifer Miranda in Keszthely, Hungary, yesterday.
But Taylor's Bray BC team-mate Debbie Rogers bowed out of the tournament after she was beaten 4-3 by English flyweight Nina Smith, despite being 3-0 ahead at one stage.
Taylor, who defends her AIBA World title in Barbados next month, is aiming for her third EU crown on the trot in Hungary. She'll now trade blows with Danuse Dilhofova of the Czech Republic.
Taylor, Allana Murphy and Sinead Kavanagh will all be involved in quarter-final bouts today.
Kavanagh, from the Drimnagh BC in Dublin, meets Germany's Ulrika Brukner at middleweight, while Murphy, of the East Side club in Belfast, faces the reigning AIBA World light-welterweight champion, Gulsum Tatar of Turkey.
