Taxman takes fight to Pacman

PHILIPPINE tax officials have filed a complaint against boxer and lawmaker Manny Pacquiao for failure to submit documents to investigators looking into his tax returns.

Prosecutors will now decide if there is enough evidence to bring the case to court, where Pacquiao could face up to two years in jail if convicted.

Stars snubbed over Rio design

Golf: Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Gary Player have all failed to win the right to design the course in Rio de Janeiro to be used for the 2016 Olympics.

Instead American Gil Hanse will team up with former LPGA Tour star Amy Alcott for the sport’s return to the Games after a gap of 112 years. The Rio 2016 committee said Hanse Golf Design was “the candidate that most aptly met the selection criteria”.

Roche seventh

CYCLING: Nicolas Roche took seventh on stage four of Paris-Nice as Belgian Gianni Meersman surprised the favourites to take stage victory on another uphill sprint finish into Rodez.

Roche moved up three more places to 27th overall, but his general classification aspirations are over and he will now chase stage wins. “My legs are not as good as I thought they were,” admitted the Dubliner yesterday.
