strictly does it for soccer!

WE HAD A Dream, from Ballyfermot emerged victorious from the 250 players representing teams from Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Limerick, Portlaoise, Galway, Longford, Wexford, Waterford in the All-Ireland Street Soccer finals organised by Ireland's Big Issue Street Soccer leagues.

The event was hosted by the Postal Sports & Social Club in Kiltipper and the participants, who have experienced difficult times, find a common pursuit in competing for the Ireland Street Soccer Trophy and hope to catch the eye of the selectors to earn a chance to represent Ireland in the Homeless World Cup.

The event was used to select a panel of players from which a team will be selected to represent Ireland in the 2013 Homeless World Cup Soccer Tournament, which will be held in Poszan, Poland in August 2013.

John Delaney, FAI CEO, attended and helped present the prizes along and other TDs and representatives with the final seeing WHAD defeating Bayern Never Lose one-nil in a competitive final with no little amount of skill on display.

Meanwhile, the Dandelion Club on Stephen's green hosted the launch of Strictly For Soccer which is supported by the John Giles Foundation and the Irish Street Leagues. The actual event will by held at CityWest Hotel on Friday, May 24 with FAI CEO John Delaney as MC. There will also be celebrity judges on the night.

All proceeds on the night will go towards supporting the Street Leagues World Cup campaign in Poznan in Poland in August as well as the community work of the John Giles Foundation.

Many FAI RDO's, their wives and partners will participate in the dance spectacular which is sure to be a night of glitz and glamour for the participants and the audience.
