Storm set to hit Glasgow

Michael 'The Storm' Sweeney has no fears ahead of meeting unbeaten local fighter Stephen Simmons in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow next week in a Celtic cruiserweight title bout on the Ricky Burns-Jose Gonzalez WBO lightweight title undercard.

"It won't bother me if he has a few thousand supporters at ringside, 'cause I'll blank it out," says Sweeney.

"It'll just be me and him in the ring."

Training in Belfast with John Breen and Eamon Magee, Sweeney is in confident mood. "We've discussed a plan," he reveals. "But you know how these things can change. The first round will decide how I deal with him.

"But no mistake, a win in this fight could be a stepping stone to greater things, so I'm going there to do the business," adds the Mayo fighter, who desperately wants a rematch with Ian Tims, the man who beat him for the Irish title on a 10 rounds points decision in 2011.
