BADMINTON: Five Leinster umpires have flown to Athens to officiate at the Special Olympics World Games starting today.
Catherine Smyth, Hazel Bird, Noeleen Elliott, Muriel Moles and Tom McGrath will supervise 12 days of action.
Irish Senior Cup champions Mount Pleasant finished third in their group at the European Club Championships in Zwolle Netherlands.
The Dublin team beat TBR Iceland but lost to both Chel from Portugal and Bordeaux St Bruno from France. Making up the team were Mark Cobbe, Niall Tierney, Dan Magee, Owen Marron, Jennie King, Laura Butler, and Pauline and Fiona Glennon. Siobhan Grehan was manager.
CANOEING: Salmon Leap paddler Jenny Egan set a new Irish women's record of 1 minute 55.9 seconds on her way to the 500m semi-finals at the European Sprint Canoe Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Egan finished eighth in the semi-final as well as ninth in the 5000m final and ninth in the 200m B final.
Barry Watkins, also Salmon Leap, finished fourth in the 500m B final and eighth in the 1000m B final.
Juniors Dáire Mitchell, Mark Hartnett, Bearach ó Casaide, Anthony Forristal, Iomhar Mac Giolla Phádraig and senior Adam Strevens are competing in the Regatta Auronzo Di Cadore Italy this weekend.
Next weekend, Michael Fitz-simons, Tom Brennan, Darragh Fleming and Fintan Mitchell will compete at the Junior and U23 European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
SNOOKER: After making the final of the European Snooker Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, Vincent Muldoon of NUI Maynooth leads the Irish team at the World U21 Championship in Canada, starting on July 12.
Muldoon, seeded No4, caused a big upset at the Europeans when he beat top seed Martin O'Donnell from England 6-4 in a tense semi- final. In the final he lost to Daniel Wells from Wales 7-4. Tom Gleeson from Nenagh made the semi-final of the master's competition where he lost 5-2 to eventual champion Steve Judd from England.
Also on the Irish team for the World U21 Championships are David Cassidy, Greg Casey and Jason Devaney.
CYCLING: Sundrive Road's track is the venue tomorrow for the first of two women's track cycling training days. Held in conjunction with the Women's Commission, the session will introduce riders to the Olympic Omnium event, team pursuit and team sprint.
Also taking place at Sundrive is a track league on Wednesdays as well as an open training sessions on Monday evenings.

ROWING: Crews from rowing clubs all over the country are using today's final Grand League of the season at the National Rowing Centre, Farran Wood as a dress rehearsal for next month's Irish Rowing Championships.
Skibbereen lead the table, with Dublin clubs, Neptune and Commercial battling it out for second. In the men's single scull, John Keohane, fresh from his win at the Marlow Regatta in London, takes on Beijing Olympians Sean Casey and Cathal Moynihan.
Last weekend, a squad of Irish U23 and senior rowers made a three-day trip to the London 2012 Olympic rowing and canoeing village. As well as training at Dorney Lake, the London 2012 regatta venue, squad members competed in the Marlow regatta.
Mark O'Donovan and Michael Maher won the elite pairs, while an U23 quad finished third.
At Women's Henley, lightweight double Lisa Dilleen and Sanita Puspure beat a British pair in the final, before teaming up with Eimear Moran and Holly Nixon to win the open four event.
