INDONESIAN outfit Polygon Sweet Nice may not be a cycling outfit on many lips, but that's about to change.
For the 2013 season, they are registered as an Irish team with five Irish riders, namely Daniel Clifford, Mark Dowling, Stephen Halpin, Charles Prendergast and Ryan Sherlock, as the team has been given UCI Continental status under the Irish Cycling Federation.
Sherlock, representing Cycleways, topped the Irish ratings last season.
He said: "It is an 11-man squad with four from Indonesia and one each from Spain and Kazakhstan.
"For the moment, we will use Ireland as our base. I have pencilled in the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan at Easter and the An Post Rás as our Irish targets.
"There will be lots of challenges over the next year – I can't wait to get started."
Sherlock added: "I have some unfinished business as far as the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan is concerned. Last year I was race leader for a number of days and lost the race overall on the final day by the narrowest of margins.
"That has to be the first objective for the year before we spread our wings overseas."
