IN the race to host the prestigious Dublin Scratch Cup, Shandon have got the nod over Portmarnock.
"I'd like to thank both clubs for their enthusiasm, and if the Dublin Scratch Cup is to be run again next year, I feel that Portmarnock, should they wish, be given the opportunity to stage the event," declared Dublin chief, Christy Broe.
There's also much interest in the structure for this season's Dublin Leagues. Last year it operated on an open draw.
But the majority of clubs felt that the struggle to get across the city in the ever-increasing traffic proved restrictive.
So this term a north-south draw comes into operation, thus cutting down the time commitment and travel problems.
Another item of concern is the format for inter-county trials. The County Board drew up a well-researched document on the matter.
Good cheer also came with the news that the finances of the Board are on solid ground. In these pressing times, that's no mean achievement.
