Seymour in search of an 18th cross title

NEXT Saturday, Robin Seymour will attempt to win his 18th Irish title in the discipline of cyclo-cross.

The Team Worc competitor has been dominant when it comes to championship racing. The championship event will be held in St Anne's Park, Raheny.

Back in October, Robin was successful at this venue.

But he faces a major challenge from Roger Aiken of Banbridge CC.

Aiken dented Seymour's superiority at cross racing when he edged him out of victory in Corkagh Park in November, and to rub salt into the Seymour campaign, he took his scalp once more in Tymon Park in December.

So, next Saturday, a defeat for Robin could bring the curtain down on an illustrious career. The writing could be on the wall for the defending champion.
