Rested Poulter is raring to go Morgan bought by IPL side Bangalore Khan on course for April US debut bout

GOLF: A recharged Ian Poulter enjoyed a five-week break over Christmas and kicks off the new season at this week's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship alongside another seven of the world's top 20, including European number one Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and defending champion Paul Casey.

"I like the golf course, from what I remember. I'm looking forward to getting out there," added Poulter, who boasts two top-10 finishes in Abu Dhabi in 2006 and 2008.

"The course lends itself to people who have got imagination with the short game and some feel. I am looking forward to getting out there."

Weather to be key factor in Bob Hope

GOLF: Rain could be a significant factor at this week's Bob Hope Classic in La Quinta, California, but defending champion Pat Perez plans to make the best of conditions in the third event on this year's PGA Tour.

The California coast is being battered by high winds and heavy rain this week, and wet weather has been forecast for the first three rounds of the 90-hole pro-am celebrity event in its desert surroundings.

"It looks like the weather will put a damper on things," said 33-year-old American Perez.

"It won't be exactly like last year but we'll just make the best of it."
