Ramsgrange fall at the final hurdle

FAIS ALL-IRELAND FINAL

SEN 'B' GIRLS FINAL

ST BRENDAN'S COLLEGE 2

RAMSGRANGE CS 1

TWO early goals in Athlone yesterday were enough to deny Ramsgrange Community School their first All-Ireland title. The Wexford school were denied a fairytale season by strikes from Kayleigh Winters and Michelle Doherty as Connacht holders St Brendan's College won the national showpiece.

Sharon Doyle did give Ramsgrange hope within four minutes of the Mayo side's second goal but, despite a strong second-half showing, they were unable to turn the game around.

HISTORIC

Despite the loss it has been a historic year for the New Ross school, after they claimed their first provincial title last month.

As reward for their great campaign, the Ramsgrange girls joined winners St Brendan's as guests of the FAI at last night's victory for the Ireland senior team over Poland at the Aviva Stadium.
