Portmarnock take pride in unique place

THE toast of the coast -- Portmarnock pitch and putt club.

They gained the runners-up prize in the prestigious PPUI club of the year awards.

"It's an outstanding achievement for the club and indeed for the county," reflected Dublin PRO Keith Redmond.

The club is located right in the heart of the village, just behind the church and backing onto the renowned Portmarnock Golf Club.

"Portmarnock is one of the few pitch and putt links courses in the world, and it boasts some of the best greens in the country," added Keith.

"They do outstanding work with the juveniles, and last year they hosted the U16 All-Ireland Strokeplay and Inter-County Championships with great success."

Club delegate, David Crum, accepted the award on behalf of the club. It now stands proudly out by the sea.

And it's fair to say that, when the PPUI are giving out the gold in the future, Portmarnock will again be figuring strongly on the leaderboard.
