O'Gara eager to coach in France

RUGBY: Munster out-half Ronan O'Gara, who had his contribution to rugby acknowledged at the weekend when the 33-year-old was named as the inaugural winner of the ERC European Player award, wants to play on for a year after the 2011 World Cup, but would love a coaching role in France after that.

Being rated Europe's best player of the past 15 years is a considerable honour for O'Gara, and he recognises the role he has played in steering Munster to two Heineken Cup titles.

Now O'Gara, who cannot see himself playing for anyone but Munster, said: "Maybe as a kicking specialist or a three-quarter coach, I still don't know," he said. "But France has always fascinated me. I studied the language over two years in university."

Twickenham and Cardiff to host Heineken finals

RUGBY: The next two Heineken Cup finals will take place on British shores after the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff was named as the venue for the 2010-11 showpiece and Twickenham was awarded the right to stage the 2012 final.

CYCLING: HTC-Columbia rider Matthew Goss became the third Australian to win a stage in this year's Giro d'Italia after riders had to power through huge puddles on the ninth day of racing. Astana's Alexandre Vinokourov is still the overall leader, by a minute from BMC's Cadel Evans.
