O'Donnell turns tide for Belmont

Belmont FC............................................. 3

Park Celtic............................................. 2

IN STARK contrast to the previous weekend, last Sunday's SDFL Under 14 Major Cup final between Belmont FC and Park Celtic was played in glorious sunshine, and at the final whistle it was Belmont who were basking in it.

This game was played on the Astro pitch in the league's HQ at Ballyowen Park and it turned out to be a cracking affair between these two sides.

The Celts had the better of the early stages and when they raced into a 2-0 lead it looked like Belmont had a mountain to climb if they were to get anything out of it.

But by half-time, they had reduced the deficit with a goal from Luke Daly. That was the springboard for a second-half performance that saw Brian O'Donnell score twice, including a winner in the dying minutes, to land them the trophy.

ARDMORE GIVEN A TREAT AT CARLISLE

THE ARDMORE ROVERS FC Under 8 SDFL team proudly paraded their recently won trophy around Bray's Wanderer's Carlisle Grounds in their game against Dundalk FC.

In front of a very appreciative crowd there was enthusiastic applause and cheers as the team were introduced and then set off on a lap of honour.

The travelling Dundalk fans were in fine voice all night and loudly sang 'Championes' as the boys passed by.

Once they had completed the lap, the team then entertained the crowd to an exciting small sided game on the main pitch. Well done lads.

PARKVALE 'A'S HOLD OFF 'B'S IN U11 DIV 2

PARKVALE FC's 'A' squad came out on top in their U11 Division 2 clash with the club's 'B' squad in a recent midweek game.

A 3-2 scoreline in favour of the 'A' lads was just about deserved after they had raced into a 3-0 lead, and then held out in the final minutes after the 'B' team netted twice but it the 'A's who were the happier at the finish and were thankful to their scorers Adam Kileen (2) and Ben Shaw.
