O'Connor in battle to keep both his out-halves happy

Leinster coach Matt O'Connor tried to sign Jimmy Gopperth and Ian Madigan when he was head coach at Leicester Tigers.

While Leinster Rugby was devastated to learn of Jonathan Sexton leaving the club, O'Connor knew he had at his disposal two out-halfs he already wanted to work with.

It is one thing to talk up the trust you have in two competing fly-halfs, quite another to have thought enough of both of them to attempt to sign them up.

"It will be something that we will have to manage throughout the season and we will have to look at every week," said O'Connor.

"Both of them need to play. Both of them need to bring what they bring to the group. They are both not afraid of the responsibility that goes with the ten shirt".
