The Venezuelan KO king suffered the injury last weekend in a clash of heads with Antonio DeMarco while defending his WBC lightweight title.
Valero survived the cut to batter DeMarco to defeat in the ninth round, boosting his record to 27-0, all of his wins coming inside the distance.
The WBC, noting also that Valero has spoken about testing the waters in the light-welterweight division, will match Humberto Soto with another opponent for the lightweight belt.
Gavin gunning for Irish rival
BRITAIN'S former world amateur champion Frankie Gavin aims for his sixth straight win as a professional when he faces London-based Galwayman Peter McDonagh at Wembley Arena tonight.
