The first ever Herald-sponsored Metropolitan Cup final is set for Home Farm's recently refurbished Whitehall ground over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

The Metro kicks off an exciting weekend of football which will include the highly-anticipated FAI Junior Cup final between Kilbarrack United and Sheriff YC at the Aviva Stadium, which acts as a curtain-raiser to the Ireland v Georgia international.

Whitehall and the Herald Metro will be first up though, on Friday, May 31st, as the LSL's top cup competition brings down the curtain on another dramatic season at the top end of the league.

The semi-final line-up was complete last Wednesday night as four Senior Division sides flexed their top-flight muscle to end any Senior 1 involvement. The four are back in action this Wednesday with a place in the final up for grabs.

Wayside Celtic thumped six past Verona to set up a clash with Bangor Celtic, who stuck four by last season's runners-up Peamount/Moyle Park.

The second semi-final will feature Cherry Orchard, 2-1 winners over newly promoted Leixlip United, against St Pat's CY, who managed to edge out Drumcondra by the odd goal in three.
