meet the Challenge for sharper fitness

Punchestown Racecourse will host the inaugural running of the Motivate Challenge on Saturday September 11.

Motivate is an adventure challenge, over two separate distances, set in the idyllic Kildare and Wickow countryside. The courses are 25km and 65km, each involving a mixture of running or walking, cycling and kayaking. Motivate provides an achievable goal for the extreme and novice adventure race participant.

Whether you aim to get fit and achieve a personal goal or you aim to enter the record books as the first ever Motivate Champion, the Motivate Challenge is the perfect test.

At the launch, event co-ordinator Richie Galway said: "Adventure challenges have seen huge growth in recent years and this format allows competitors of all ages, shapes and sizes to target an achievable goal, while improving health and wellbeing, regardless of their level of fitness."

Punchestown Racecourse, the Blessington lakes and the Wicklow hills form the backdrop for the event.

A full day of events and activities will be held at Punchestown for friends, family and spectators throughout the day.

Leinster and Ireland rugby international and Heineken Cup winner Bernard Jackman said: "I am honoured to be the ambassador for the Motivate Challenge (this year).

"Making Motivate a goal for 2010 can provide a life-changing experience for anyone aiming to increase their fitness level and health.

"The beauty of Motivate is that it doesn't have to be a race -- completion and personal achievement is the aim for most competitors."
