Malucelli claims Stage

MATTEO MALUCELLI (Team IDEA) won a bunch sprint, pipping Alex Frame (New Zealand National Team) to take stage 3 of An Post Rás. Andreas Hofer (Hrinkow Advarics Cycleangteam) finished in third place.

Lukas Postlberger (Tirol Cycling Team) retained the race leader's yellow jersey after stage 3.

County riders Mark Potts (Down North Graham Powerhouse Sport IRL), Roger Aiken (Louth Team Asea), Anthony Walsh and Sean McKenna (both Cork Aquablue) led out front from the 70km mark as part of a six-man breakaway, which also included Jimmy Janssens (Team 3m) and Morgan Smith (Team Subaru-Albion) but they were eventually reeled in with only 5km to go.

A LATE puncture proved costly for Team Sky's Richie Porte as Nicola Boem (Bardiani-CSF) won stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia yesterday.

Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) enjoyed an uneventful day to retain the overall leader's pink jersey, with Porte's bid for the maglia rosa hindered by the mishap 5km from the finish.
