Mahan streaks ahead in Doral

American Hunter Mahan fired seven birdies and charged into a two-stroke lead after 11 holes of the storm-delayed opening round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral.

Only nine players finished their round before darkness fell and Mahan, playing the back nine first, birdied his opening four holes and added three more before play was suspended.

The American leads a pack of seven players on five-under, which includes Germany's world number one Martin Kaymer, Fiji's Vijay Singh, Japan's Ryo Ishikawa and Britain's Luke Donald.

Tiger Woods, playing with rival Phil Mickelson (-2), was at one-under after 15 holes, while Lee Westwood was on four-under after completing the front nine of the Blue Monster course.
