'Lonnie B' bursts onto British stage

A graduate of Buffalo State College, where, ironically, he earned a degree in Health and Wellness, undefeated 26-year-old American light-heavyweight (10-0, 6 KOs) and five time Golden Gloves champion Lionel "Lonnie B" Thompson makes his debut in Britain tonight on the Fury-Pajkic undercard.

Seasoned boxing pundits aren't the only ones who reckon Thompson could be a hot prospect. "I was born to be a superstar," said the man himself. "My style is a mix of Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones Jr. and Terry Norris. I hit and don't get hit. I never worry about losing."

Anything else, Lionel? "I'm not cocky."

Thompson intends to make his first visit an auspicious occasion. "Get ready to see the next superstar," he said. "Tyson Fury is a great fighter. I'm the next big thing in boxing."
