Lewis looking for a lift in Dublin

THE Premier League of darts stops off in Ireland for the very first time this evening and in doing so will attract a record crowd of 9,000, the biggest attendance ever at a major PDC event.

Dublin's O2 Arena will host round seven of the league with current world champion Adrian Lewis in action against wildcard Kevin Painter, while Phil Taylor takes on James Wade in the feature match of the night.

Taylor goes into proceedings in Dublin unbeaten having won his last five matches, following a thrilling draw with Lewis in the opening week of this year's competition.

Taylor was a comprehensive victor over Andy Hamilton last week, while Wade also comes to Dublin in good form after beating an out-of-sorts Lewis 8-5 last week in Glasgow.

Hamilton, another wildcard, gets things underway against second-placed Simon Whitlock, who will be full of confidence after a gutsy win over Scot Gary Anderson in front of last week's partisan Glasgow crowd.

Lewis is currently propping up the table with just three points and without a victory. "I'm going through a rough patch," he told the Herald in Dublin today.
