Leinster to face Wasps in Coventry

Rugby: Leinster's European Champions Cup rivals Wasps will stage their first game at their new home in Coventry against Castres or London Irish in December.

The two-times European champions have acquired a 50pc interest in the Ricoh Arena. Wasps will continue to play at their existing ground at Adams Park until December.

The decision to move the club to Coventry has angered supporters. London-based Wasps will play their home matches 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of the capital but club captain James Haskell supports the move.

"It's always dangerous to try and project what other people feel, but it's obviously a massive change and people are very sceptical of change, it's human nature," Haskell said.

"But look at the situation we were in - we were an hour away from going bankrupt. Fans have been shielded from how much of a struggle it has been at times, but this move has now secured the future of Wasps."

Leinster will play Wasps at the Ricoh Arena in their final Pool 2 game on January 23.

Nadal exits Shanghai

Tennis: An ailing Rafa Nadal added his name to the list of upsets at the Shanghai Masters after the Spaniard suffered a 6-3 7-6(6) second-round loss to Feliciano Lopez, as fourth seed Stan Wawrinka and No 7 Kei Nishikori also made early exits.

World number one Novak Djokovic kicked off his title defence with a 6-3 6-4 win over Dominic Thiem, while Andy Murray had a 7-5 6-2 win over Jerzy Janowicz.

Nadal has been diagnosed with appendicitis which will require surgery and while the world number two tried to play through the pain he was clearly not at his best.

Button relishes Sochi

Formula One: Jenson Button is eager to savour the challenge of Formula One's latest addition to the calendar as the Sochi Autodrom hosts this weekend's inaugural Russian Grand Prix.

McLaren star Button said: "It's always interesting to visit new circuits. It's fun to get out and explore the contours of the track, the kerbs, the run-offs, the camber.

"They're all the things you don't really fully experience until you're on-site and able to see the track for the very first time. That'll be my priority on Thursday."
