Kelly's hero in Cork

THEY are calling him the Comeback Kid -- Patrick Kelly, the toast of Loughlinstown, writes Niall Scully.

After the opening round of the Gents Senior Strokeplay Championship at Collins, Cork, he trailed John O'Neill (Athgarvan) by a whopping five shots.

Yet Kelly produced a stunning second round 46 for a total of 95, enough to win the title by a shot. In second was his Loughlinstown colleague, Thomas Mason, who carded rounds of 47 and 49 to make it a memorable tournament for the south Dublin club.
